Privacy and cookie notice for players

We are Good Shepherd Entertainment. We are based at Saturnusstraat 60 (2516 AH) The Hague, The Netherlands. You can contact us at privacy@goodshepherd.games if you have questions about data protection, or if you have any requests for resolving issues with your personal data. You can also write to the above address.

In this privacy notice we describe:
* The ways we collect personal data about you when you play one of our games and why we do so
* How we use your personal data, and
* The choices you have about your personal data.

We are committed to a lawful, fair and transparent processing of personal data.

1. The data we process

There are two ways that we obtain data from players of our games.

One, when you get a Good Shepherd game from the Epic Games store, we receive your email address from Epic Games but only if you agree to share this with us.

Two, when you play a Good Shepherd game on PC, we automatically collect in-game analytics data, including Google Analytics, and Unity Technologies.

When you get or play a Good Shepherd game on Xbox, PlayStation® or Nintendo Switch™ we do not receive any data.

When you get or play a Good Shepherd game from Apple Arcade®, the App Store® , Google Play or Google Play Pass we do not receive any data.

When you play a Good Shepherd game on any platform, we and our developers keep track of data needed to unlock in-game achievements, such as playtime, health items used and other in-game player performance elements. We do not see this as personal data or personally identifiable data.

We also obtain analytics and A/B testing data when you visit our website.

2. What do we use the data for

We use your email address to send you a monthly newsletter with information or status updates on specific titles that we're working on and plan to release soon, including those available in other stores than from the store where you bought the game.

We use the game analytics data to be able to analyze, in aggregate form, how players use our games, how often and how long they play our games, where they stop, and so on. We do not use the analytics data to target players with ads.

We use the website analytics and A/B testing data to analyze, in aggregate form, how visitors of our website use it, where they come from, what pages are popular, and so on.

3. Our legal basis for processing data

For the newsletter that we send, we base the processing of personal data on your consent, provided when you agreed to share your email address with us. You have to the right to withdraw your consent at any time but we would like to point out that this does not affect the lawfulness of the processing before the date that you withdrew your consent. You can do so either by clicking on the unsubscribe link that we include in each newsletter, or by sending us a mail at privacy@goodshepherd.games

For the game analytics and website analytics, we base the processing of personal data on our legitimate interest to be able to analyze how players use our games, and how website visitors use our website.

4. Our legal basis for processing data

Unity Technologies may collect certain data in relation to your use of a game that is built withUnity Software. Unity is a data controller under GDPR. https://unity3d.com/legal/privacy-policy

Finally, we may release your data when we are required to by a court order, according to law or in the event of a bankruptcy or other similar unfortunate event. We may also share and may acquire your data with future subsidiaries or companies if we choose to sell, transfer or merge parts of our business. We will, however, only transfer the data if we must and if these companies comply with applicable privacy regulations.

5. How long and where do we store data

We store newsletter subscriber information until you unsubscribe from our list. We store analytics and A/B testing data for up to 5 years.

6. How do we protect data

Taking into account the nature, scope, context and purpose of the processing, we have taken the following technical and organizational measures:

* Our databases, and the information contained therein, are protected with access control. We use 2FA (Two-factor authentication) whenever possible.
* Access to databases is limited, not all staff in our organization have full access.

We do not actively monitor the security of our database and need to rely on our processors to notify us of any data breaches.

7. If you are in Europe - transfer of your personal data

You should also know that your personal data may be transferred from your home country to third parties. If you are an EEA or UK resident, this could imply that we also transfer data to countries that do not offer an adequate level of protection for your personal data. When we transfer this data, we will do so only when we have put in place appropriate safeguards to protect your personal data. Please contact us to get a copy of the safeguards that we have put in place. Our contact details are at the bottom of this text.

8. If you are in California (USA) - do not track and do not sell my data (opt-out)

For players from California (USA), we do not sell your data. For website visitors from California (USA), our website does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals.

9. Your rights

No matter where you live, you have the right to request access to your personal data that we process. You also have the right to:
* Rectify incorrect personal data or erase it in certain circumstances.
* Restrict or object to the processing of your personal data.
* Receive your data so that you can use it elsewhere (data portability).

Where we process data based on your consent, you also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time but we would like to point out that this does not affect the lawfulness of the processing before the date that you withdrew your consent.

If you wish to exercise any of the above rights, please write to us at privacy@goodshepherd.games. We will respond to all requests within a reasonable timeframe, but at least within 4 weeks.

If you are based in an EU Member State, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local EU data protection authority for unresolved complaints.

10. Young players

Protecting the privacy of children is of the utmost important to us and we do our best to meet both EU and U.S. standards. Some of our games are expressly not directed at younger players. This includes games that have an age rating (like PEGI, USK, ESRB or CERO) for players of ages 16 and up. This means that generally, we do not expect to process personal data of players younger than 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that we process personal data of your child or guard, please contact us through one of the options provided at the beginning of this page.

11. Cookies and other technologies

Like most online services, we and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide and personalize our website, analyse use, target advertisements and prevent fraud.
